Assignment 2

The issue I wish to address about media bias is the FOX news coverage of international disputes in Syria. On February 7, 2012 FOX released an article about United States consideration of arming Syrian rebels. Lawmakers Suggest US Arming Syrian rebels, as graphic images emerge

The article sparks a debate over what a proper solution would be to quell the on going fighting in Syria. What I do not like about the article is that FOX tries to force the Republicans solution against what the Democrats think is best. While different media entity's all sway on the side of being conservative or liberal in its opinions, this media bias grows old to me. All major news outlets are guilty of this and it would be nice to have strictly objective news on issues of international politics.

The article's content gives specific quotes of John McCain and his recommendations to help Syrian Rebels. What is aggravating to me is that after each of McCain's quotes the article follows up with how the Obama administration pushes back and disagrees. The information goes on to say Democrats would prefer humanitarian efforts over the use of arming Syrian rebels. The bias in the article hints that the conservative's solutions are better. This is not objective news.

Assignment 1

The first online media outlet I like is fox news. They have a clear and organized web page with easy to find topics depending on what news you are interested in reading. The page has big clear font and has good color schemes so the eyes are not lost in the reading.  FOX

The online second media outlet I like is MSNBC. The webpage is similar to fox because is also has easy to find category links for grouping news topics. MSNBC also uses similar  color schemes as well as clear reading font. MSNBC

One media online website I don't care for is Tuscaloosa news. I found that the webiste has different tabs at the top that are not clear at first. They say things like Tuscmoms and Tuscprepes. The site also throws random videos in the middle of text which takes away from the reading.  Tuscaloosa News

One general website I like is JSU Gamecock Sports. The website gives up to date news stories on all the universities sports and clearly groups the different teams. The colors on the website are bright and texturally appealing. JSU Gamecock Sports

One general website I no longer like is Facebook. While the site used to be clear and organized, it is now sloppy and confusing. The website now even throws large background pictures on users profiles. They have also made the privacy settings and information near impossible to understand. Facebook
